Recovered Microbus could draw attention to used Eurovans in New Jersey

A Volkswagen Microbus that went missing in 1974 has just been found and the story could get buyers interested in used Eurovans in New Jersey.

Before the Eurovan, Volkswagen made the Microbus. Most people think of the vehicle as an icon of the 1960s and many refer to it as the Hippie Bus because it was popular among young people several decades ago.

A beautiful example of the Microbus was recently found in Los Angeles after having been missing for 35 years, according to The Daily Breeze. Customs agents found it packed into a container on a ship bound for the Netherlands. This amusing story might get people interested in other Volkswagen models such as the Eurovan.

The Eurovan is a lot like the Microbus, just more modern. Like the bus, the van has a pop-top roof and can seat a big family comfortably. It’s great for cross-country trips because the third row of seats converts into a bed and the passenger area features a folding table. Indeed, used Eurovans in New Jersey could make the perfect vehicle for drivers who like to hit the open road.

Used GTIs in New York can make hot hatches

German car lovers looking for used Volkswagens in New York might be interested to know that driving a hatchback has its advantages.

Mike Olson had a Jetta before he got his 2003 GTI, according to Eurotuner Magazine. But he didn’t take to the longer chassis.

“I never did like the Jetta body style so I went back to a hatch,” said Olson to the publication about his decision to switch to a smaller model.

VW has been making the GTI since 1974 and it has been redesigned several times since its original release. Olson’s is a fourth generation model and although it’s equipped with a turbo-charged engine, Volkswagen offered several other types of motors in the GTIs of this era. A naturally-aspirated four cylinder and a 2.8 liter six cylinder were also available.

People looking for used Volkswagens in New York should know that driving a hatchback can be very convenient, especially in the city where parking is limited. Backing into a tight spot can be much easier when you’re not driving a sedan.

Frankie Muniz’ tweet could spark purchases of used Volkswagens in New Jersey

Eagle-eyed Twitter followers may have noticed that Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz decided to take out a specially-modified Jetta for a spin, and the actor’s buying activities could spur interest in used Volkswagen Jettas in New Jersey.

Muniz bought a pre-owned Jetta that played a supporting role in the initial Fast and the Furious movie, where a side character used it in a drag race against one of the bad guys. He has more than one used car, however, also owning a Porsche made popular by James Dean that appeared in an episode of the MTV show Punk’d.

Buyers who share the actor’s willingness to consider pre-owned vehicles and like the look of a Volkswagen may want to take a look at used Jettas in New Jersey that generally come with a more sedate paint scheme than the Fast and the Furious customized version.

The 2005 model is larger than earlier models so occupants have more space, and product strategist Paul Spaveltz told Cars.com at the car’s launch that a new front fascia was designed to provide an “intense and predatory look.”

Buyers looking to match government mandate may drive sales of used Volkswagens in New York

A new federal fuel standard will require the nation’s automobiles to have an average fuel mileage of 35.5 miles per gallon by the 2012 model year, but buyers who consider used Volkswagen Jettas in New York powered by diesel engines may already be ahead of the curve.

The new initiative was announced by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation and will be the first nationwide standard to include the effects of emissions, according to the agencies.

“These proposed standards would help consumers save money at the gas pump, help the environment, and decrease our dependence on oil – all while ensuring that consumers still have a full range of vehicle choices,” said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood during the announcement.

People in the market for a car won’t have to look at either more expensive new cars or hybrids if they want to match the government’s goals, since used Volkswagen Jettas in New York may offer similar fuel efficiency.

The 2006 model had an EPA estimated city fuel mileage of 36 mph, and 41 mpg in highway driving in a “fairly quiet package,” notes a Cars.com review.

Executive: Used cars in New York make more sense than new Chevy Volt

The Chevrolet Volt has received a lot of press attention for the way General Motors marketed the new electric vehicle, but one competing automaker has said that the price and relative economy don’t match up against diesel-power used Audi cars in New York.

“No one is going to pay a $15,000 premium for a car that competes with a (Toyota) Corolla,” Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America president, told MSN Autos. “So there are not enough idiots who will buy it.”

He adds that while electric vehicles represent the future of the automotive industry, they are currently targeted at the “intellectual elite,” while clean diesel vehicles may already be able to offer improved fuel mileage compared to regular gasoline and reduce carbon emissions.

Mr. de Nysschen does have a vested interest in advocating diesel technology, as his Audi cars are available with engines that run on the alternative fuel, but other industry officials have also advocated the use of diesel-powered vehicles.

Although older Audis were not available in the U.S. with diesel engines, parent company Volkswagen has several models that use the engine, and buyers could be interested by used Volkswagen Jettas in New York.

The 2005 model can cost one-fourth the sticker price of a new Volt, and “with wholly predictable handling, it’s simply masterful through curves,” according to a Cars.com review.

Used Audi TTs in New Jersey don’t have transmission problems of new models

Buyers who considered upgrading to a 2009 model Audi TT because of the DSG gearbox that offered semi-manual operation may want to take a look at used Audi TTs in New Jersey instead.

Audi and parent company Volkswagen are initiating a voluntary recall of roughly 20,000 vehicles with Audi’s S Tronic and Volkswagens DSG transmissions because instead of offering easier shifting without the need for a clutch pedal, reports from motorists indicate that the cars occasionally don’t shift at all.

The notice comes after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that registered complaints from drivers of the 2009 model year vehicles including: the Volkswagen Jetta, GTI and EOS along with the Audi TT and some A3 models.

In either coupe or convertible trim, a used Audi TT in New Jersey may attract buyers because of it “offers an appealing blend of gearing and clutch behavior” in the 2005 model, according to a Cars.com review. The website also noted the excellent handling characteristics and styling cues as reasons to purchase the vehicle.

Automaker’s offices raided in development of interest to drivers of used cars in New Jersey

Drivers of used Volkswagen cars in New Jersey may be wondering what’s going on with the prospective merge or sale between the German automaker and Porsche. Authorities are demonstrating the same curiosity, having recently raided Porsche corporate offices.

German prosecutors executed search warrants at Porsche headquarters this morning on suspicions of securities law infractions and market manipulations, reported Bloomberg. Porsche had originally been trying to execute a purchase of Volkswagen, but is now selling its stake to Qatari investors.

“Based on evidence provided by [german regulators,] we have opened a preliminary investigation into suspected market manipulation and unauthorized leaks of insider information,” Claudia Krauth, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, told the wire service.

The saga began when former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking attempted to gain a voting majority of Volkswagen shares, plunging the luxury maker into debt before Porsche turned to the Middle East to sell it’s majority stake in Volkswagen, reported Reuters.

The price of shares during the takeover skyrocketed to more than 1,000 euros each, but the end result was that Volkswagen owns Porsche because of the debt accumulated before the financial downturn, according to the news provider.

Chevy Volt realities could point buyers to used Volkswagen Golfs in New Jersey

They may be working together on a separate educational program to develop hybrid technologies, but buyers considering used cars in New Jersey may be interested in learning that the Environmental Protection Agency is distancing itself from General Motors’ claim that its new Chevrolet Volt hybrid could get 230 miles per gallon in certain situations.

“The EPA has not tested a Chevy Volt and therefore cannot confirm the fuel economy values claimed by GM,” an administration spokesperson said in a statement. The official did go on to say that the EPA was glad that the automaker was making efforts to develop fuel efficient technology.

There may be one other problem for buyers looking at the Volt, slated to go on sale later next year: it’s expected to cost $40,000, and is not much more efficient than some diesel cars after 200 miles.

For example, used Volkswagen Golfs in New Jersey can get more than 50 miles per gallon, dependent on driving style, not far off from the Volt’s estimated mileage over 200 miles and many are priced at less than half of the price of a new Volt, reported the Atlantic.

Used Volkswagens in New Jersey may have safer transmissions

A used Volkswagen Jetta in New Jersey may be safer than one of the newer models with a direct shift gearbox, a concern the National Highway Transporation Safety Administration is currently investigating.

They have received more than two dozen reports that the transmission system is causing problems for drivers of new Jettas, Golf GTIs and other vehicles. In some cases the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted, and several owners reported that the vehicle had to be towed, according to the NHTSA office of defect investigations.

The ODI said that they will be monitoring the frequency of such reports and the safety consequences as part of the ongoing investigation.

On the other hand, a used Volkswagen Jetta in New Jersey generally does not have the transmission kinks of the new cars.

A 2005 Jetta is one option, as its 60 percent more rigid than earlier models which improves safety, and is larger than previous versions as well, according to a Cars.com review.

“Steering feel is excellent, and the Jetta stays neatly on course on straightaways,” added reviewer Jim Flammang. “With wholly predictable handling, it’s simply masterful through curves.”

German automakers vie for control as consumers look for used cars in New York

Two intertwined German automakers are locked into a negotiations struggle over who will own whom, and buyers looking at used cars in New York may soon see Volkswagen take control of Porsche.

The principal problem in trying to understand what’s been happening is that several people are top shareholders in both organizations, and that means that a potential deal could involve anything from a sale of Porsche to Volkswagen, or to Qatar-based investors, reported Reuters.

There are two large numbers that have to be factored in: the taxes from the deal would be be well over $4 billion to merge the two automakers, and the debt of Porsche’s parent company which is more than $10 billion, according to the news provider.

A combination of the two firms would bring makes like Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen all under the same roof, but sources told Bloomberg that a deal isn’t likely until July 29, at the earliest.

“This drama doesn’t seem to end,” said Stefan Bratzel, head of the Center of Automotive Research Institute in Bergisch Gladbach, told the wire service. “Neither Porsche nor Volkswagen can afford any further distraction.”
