Danica Patrick to promote COPD awareness

IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick, who will drive the number 7 Chevrolet in a limited NASCAR schedule in 2010, has recently joined on as a spokesperson for DRIVE4COPD, a public health initiative aimed at alerting million of Americans about the need for early detection of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Patrick was drawn to the cause due to the close relationship that she had with her grandmother, who passed away in her mid 60’s after suffering from emphysema, one of the two forms of COPD, according to USA Today.

“Being a popular person followed by a lot of fans gives me a platform I can use for good things,” said Patrick, while participating in a photo shoot for the organization with fellow celebs Jim Belushi, Bruce Jenner, Patty Loveless and Michael Strahan. “I want to use my celebrity to make a difference.”

Meanwhile, NASCAR has also decided to partner with DRIVE4COPD, which will be the title sponsor for the season-opening Nationwide Series race at Daytona Motor Speedway.

COPD currently affects approximately 24 million people, half of whom are undiagnosed, says Steve Phelps, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for NASCAR.

UT athletic director: Kiffin crashed a Lexus leased through the school last summer

Used Lexus models in New Jersey may become more popular following the recent news that current University of Southern California (USC) head football coach Lane Kiffin was in a one-car accident last August while preparing for his one and only season as the top man at the University of Tennessee’s (UT) football program, according to ESPN.com.

Kiffen reportedly told UT athletic director Mike Hamilton that he was working late at the team’s complex and was headed home when he fell asleep behind the wheel and drove his Lexus off the road. The car was leased to Kiffin through the coach’s vehicle program for men’s and women’s athletic teams.

Hamilton said that the school had investigated internet rumors that Coach Kiffin had been drinking and was seen with female students the night of the accident, but “we were never able to substantiate any of that,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

Kiffin, who shocked and angered many UT fans with his abrupt resignation last week, declined comment through a USC athletic department spokesman.

Lindsay Lohan’s BMW involved in an alleged hit and run

Owners of used BMW models in New Jersey may be interested in another legal incident involving Lindsay Lohan. According to the celebrity website TMZ, the actress’ BMW struck a member of the paparazzi early Sunday morning in front of The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood and then drove away without stopping.

While Lohan was not behind the wheel, her driver is now a person of interest in a hit and run investigation. The photographer was treated for a hand injury by EMTs on the scene but did not go to the hospital.

“Of course I’m going to sue them,” the paparazzo told TMZ in a statement. “I want to press charges so badly… [the driver] is going to jail.”

Authorities reportedly watched video footage of the incident and have decided that it does not meet the standards of an assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Apparently the driver was attempting to maneuver the BMW through an alley surrounded by photographers and struck the injured party in a fairly “benign” fashion, the Hollywood Gossip reports.

Used BMW models in New Jersey may become more popular following Lohan’s latest run-in with the law.

Report: Usher’s SUV gets broken into, thief gets away with fortune

GMC models in New Jersey may become more popular following reports that a thief stole over $1 million in items from R&B singer Usher’s sports utility vehicle.

According to the celebrity gossip website TMZ, Usher and a friend were shopping at an AT&T store in Atlanta on December 14 when a robber broke into his GMC Yukon and took a variety of Christmas gifts and jewelry.

Citing the Atlanta police department, the Associated Press reports that $1,065,700 worth of cameras, computers, jewelry and several fur coats were taken from Usher’s car. It is also rumored that as much as $20,000 cash was swiped from the vehicle.

A witness reportedly told police that a Chevy Impala drove up to the car and cracked open the door of the SUV. The case is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, Usher’s new album, titled Raymond v. Raymond, has reportedly been put on hold. The release is expected to be pushed back until later this year.

Owners of used GMC models in New Jersey may want to start storing their jewelry at home after Usher’s recent ordeal.

Owners of used Chevrolet models in New Jersey may soon get an opportunity to see Danica Patrick in NASCAR following J.R. Motorsports’ recent announcement that the Indycar racing star will attempt to qualify for a Nationwide Series race at the Auto Club Speedway on February 20.

Terry Glenn arrested on charge of auto theft, attorney calls charge a ‘crock’

Used Chevrolet models in New Jersey may begin to attract attention following a dispute involving a rental car agency and former National Football League star Terry Glenn.

On Tuesday, the former Dallas Cowboy receiver was arrested on a charge of auto theft, although his attorney said that police overacted to a simple business transaction, according to the Dallas News.

Glenn’s attorney, Luis Vera, said on Wednesday that his client had rented a Chevy Suburban from National Car Rental several weeks ago and was on his way to return it when he was pulled over and arrested because the SUV had been reported stolen.

“It is the biggest crock of garbage,” Vera said. “This is not the first person I’ve had to represent who the rental car companies have done this to.”

Glenn’s attorney said that the rental company had his client’s credit card and could have charged it at any time.

The 35-year-old footballer was booked into Irving jail on Tuesday evening and was released early Wednesday morning.

Interest in used Chevy models in New Jersey may begin to increase following another legal battle involving Terry Glenn.

Jon Gosselin attempts to trade-in his BMW for a used Subaru

The popularity of used Subaru models in New York may be on the rise following the scene at a car lot where reality television star Jon Gosselin tried to trade-in his current vehicle for a used Subaru STI.

According to the celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, the former star of Jon and Kate Plus 8 was looking to trade his 2005 BMW M3 for a more recent Subaru model as well as $4,000 in cash. Unfortunately for Gosselin, his current vehicle was not worth quite as much as he thought, forcing him to leave the lot without making a trade.

The TV reality dad has been all over the news lately due to his much publicized divorce with his wife Kate and a lawsuit with his former employer, The Learning Channel, who is suing Gosselin for making public appearances which violated his contract. Examiner.com reports that the ex-reality star is “desperate for money” and is “now trying to look for other alternative ways to bring in cash.”

Ironically, one of his alleged former flings, Stephanie Santoro, used to work at the car dealership that Gosselin visited.

Used Subaru models in New York may be more appealing to car buyers after Jon Gosselin’s attempted trade-in at a local car lot.

Maria Shriver: California’s favorite scofflaw

Used Cadillac models in New Jersey could soon attract more attention since California First Lady Maria Shriver was busted parking her Cadillac Escalade in a red zone on October 26.

The celebrity gossip website TMZ.com reported that Shriver parked her car in an emergency vehicle zone for over an hour while she visited her doctor in Santa Monica.

The incident came only two weeks after paparazzi photographed Shriver talking on her cell phone while driving—an act that her husband, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, banned in 2008.

TMZ has reportedly photographed Shriver committing the same offense three times in as many months, according to CNN.com.

Her husband promised to “take swift action” to make sure that the incident does not repeat itself.

“I regret that I made a mistake,” Shriver said in a statement. “I take responsibility for it.”

California’s First Lady later stated that she planned on donating her old cell phone to a program that benefits domestic violence shelters.

In late November, Governor Schwarzenegger followed in his wife’s footsteps by parking his silver convertible in a red zone in Beverly Hills. “No one is perfect,” he said. “Not even me.”

For car shoppers looking for used Cadillac models in New Jersey, the Escalade seems to be a popular choice for both celebrities and politicians.

Danica Patrick set to drive a Chevrolet in NASCAR next year

On Tuesday, IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick confirmed that she will drive the number 7 Chevy in a limited NASCAR schedule in 2010, which could boost sales of used Chevrolet models in New Jersey.

Patrick has inked a two-year deal with JR Motorsports, a team co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr and Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, one of NASCAR’s most successful teams.

The media darling will continue to run a full IndyCar schedule, but plans to race her GoDaddy.com Chevy in about a dozen Nationwide Series events, according to ESPN.com.

Even with Patrick’s well-known competitive fire, not everyone believes that she can handle the transition from open-wheel racing to stock cars.

“I think she’s got the talent and everything but I don’t think she knows what she’s getting into,” said Juan Pablo Montoya, who left the IndyCar circuit three years ago to begin a career in NASCAR.

“They’re so different to drive,” said Montoya, explaining the difference between a stock car and an Indy car, quoted by the news source. “It’s not the same feeling.”

The Danica Patrick signing should come as good news for those in the market for used Chevrolet models in New Jersey.
